Recently, the EU Commission published the price of CBAM certificates for the first quarter of 2026. The CBAM price reflects the average price of EU ETS allowances to balance carbon cost between EU producers and imports.
In Q1 2026, the published price per CBAM certificate amounts to EUR 75.36.
The current price per CBAM certificate was published on 7 April 2026.
The CBAM price is calculated as the weighted average of the auction clearing prices of the auctioned EU ETS allowances. Thus, the CBAM price is based on publicly available information related to EU ETS auctions.
The methodology ensures consistency between intra-EU carbon cost due to EU ETS and the carbon cost applicable to imports.
Each quarterly price in 2026 will apply to the sales of CBAM certificates corresponding to emissions in CBAM goods imported into the Union during that quarter. Thus, the applicable CBAM price is based on the time of import of the goods.
Pursuant to Article 20 of Regulation (EU) 2023/956, all CBAM certificates will be purchased on the common central platform from February 2027 onwards.
The EU Commission calculates and publishes each quarterly price during the first calendar week following the end of the relevant quarter. From 2027, the Commission will publish weekly CBAM prices.
