Martin Schmid joined PwC Austria in 2018 and leads the CIO Advisory practice, which he built from the ground up. He supports CIOs and executive management across the entire IT agenda – from strategy to day-to-day operations. His main areas of expertise include IT and digital strategy, IT operating models and IT governance, AI-driven modernization of the IT landscape, digital sovereignty, cloud and sourcing strategies, IT due diligence and IT integration in M&A transactions, IT service management, and large-scale ERP and SAP transformations.
His goal is to translate technology into measurable value: with robust business cases, realistic roadmaps, and strong execution capabilities that transform IT from a cost center into a value driver.
Prior to joining PwC, Martin Schmid spent several years working internationally at CSC and DXC Technology. He holds master’s degrees in Business Informatics and Executive Management, completed an innovation program on Industry 4.0 at the Vienna University of Technology, and serves as a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland on IT governance and IT service management.
He is a regular speaker and contributor to trade media on the topics of digital sovereignty and AI regulation.
